Legend has it that the theatre was built on a Native-American burial ground. Many believe, and some say they have seen, a Native-American ghost in full warfare garb in the theatre. The site of the theatre on sacred ground has caused many to believe the theatre has been cursed. In order to end the ups and downs of the theatre's success over the past 120 years, a cleansing was held to expel the ghost and curse.
